Effective healthcare is efficient healthcare. The NHS must demonstrate that it is making the most effective use it can of public money to deliver quality healthcare. This website is designed to help local NHS organisations do this. It is based around high-level indicators that identify potential areas for improvement in efficiency. Aimed at commissioners and providers, these indicators can be used locally to help inform planning, to inform views on the scale of potential efficiency savings in different aspects of care and to generate ideas on how to achieve these savings.
Care Closer to Home
By stimulating ideas on where commissioners should focus their attention in re-designing and shifting services away from the traditional setting of the hospital and out towards community based care. The tool should prompt you to start thinking of "how" and "why" your organisation might differ from others and to support commissioning priorities for health communities
Quality, Innovation, Productivity and Prevention (QIPP)
QIPP is working at a national, regional and local level to support clinical teams and NHS organisations to improve the quality of care they deliver while making efficiency savings that can be reinvested in the service to deliver year on year quality improvements.
